This week we were both sick with the flu/cold. So unfortunately swimming lessons were cancelled. Zico still managed to get out riding and we made the most of the winter sunshine by visiting the hockey street playground afterwards. Zico has grown in confidence and delighted in playing a chasing game over the stepping stones with me.
We finished Matilda this week and watched the movie too, now we have started the BFG.
It was great to see Zico pick up some scissors this week and start exploring cutting by himself.
Zico had an eye appointment at the hospital and was brave enough to to sit in the chair all by himself for the first time.
Being cooped up at home has meant playing hide and seek and Zico found a good hiding place in the laundry basket. We have also played a family game of combined drawing of made up creatures which Zico adores!
Making use of journeys to places but playing talking books is still popular and this week we listened to the bubbling crocodile.
We made some playdough to play with too since we couldn't leave the house and give others our germs. Zico created a cool looking character.
Finally for the start of the holidays we got out to the Glenn and the beach where we played with sticks and fed the hungry seagulls.

Tverm 2 week 9
This was the last week for Gymnastics so Zico got a participation certificate, of which he was very proud. Last week we went to a Matariki celebration where Zico had to use his torch to find 4 stars and when he had found them he got this little bag of glow in the dark stars.
We visited Monty this week to see Zico's old teachers and any children that were still there. Kaylene was thrilled to see him but Michelle was sick so we will have to go back again another time. Zico got to join in with the Music programme and try some new work too, which was a science work of using vinegar and baking soda to make a volcano. After our visit we had fun with the old fashioned phone boxes and then went to the cafe for a fluffy and Zico and I completed a children's cross word. Zico was really good at guessing the animals from the clues.
The Roald Dahl obsession continues and this week we did more stamps, having read yet more books Zico knew who even more of the characters were. We finished reading the Giraffe the Pelly and me and started reading Matilda. Zico's own writing is still about Dinosaurs and each day he adds more details to his dinosaur writing.
