Week 8

This week was the final week of Gymnastics so Zico got a certificate from Karen. He shook her hand and stood with the other children. Ka Pai Zico. I got a new phone (last one died after paddle boarding accident) and Zico took some interesting photos. He learnt the term "Selfie" and took a selfie of his eye and of the two of us. He also took a photo of Pixie the cat and a Lego pirate he had built.

I got some new tapes for the car and Zico listened and followed along to two different books this week; Walking the dog and Ask Nicely. He liked them both.

At little Gymnastics Zico learnt to do a legs up the wall handstand and go down the slide on his tummy and since it was the last week he received another certificate.

Reading this week has been all about Greedy Cat we have read The New Cat, Greedy Cat is Hungry ,Lunch for Greedy Cat and Greedy Cat. We've also ordered another one from the Library since we love them so much.

Maths has been more subitising and Zico surprised me by knowing all the dice patterns and most of the finger patterns.

Writing: Zico has written his longest sentence so far this week. It was 14 words! Here it is " The flies are in a tank and ready to be eaten by the frogs." He also wrote I can see a red eye and a black eyeball. The Cat with no tail has a hole in the fence. We saw a fantail and a hawk. I can see a cat with no tail.

Week 7

We made the most of a calm sunny day and got out on the paddleboard this week. Zico explained to me that I shouldn't call the seaweed and twigs in the water rubbish as they are natural. We were suprised to see there were still lots of baby fish out by Fifeshire rock. Zico practised balancing standing up on the paddleboard too.

We enjoyed a picnic and a play at the beach this week, making the most of the autumn sunshine.
Physical Education: Zico managed to get even braver and stronger on the flying fox and managed to hold on by himself for longer and start getting off by himself too. At Swimming and Gymnastics Zico continues to improve in strength and confidence. This week Zico floated by himself on his back just because he wanted to and he swam in deep water without holding on to Daddy. At Gymnastics the theme was balance so Zico had to try to hop on one leg on the trampoline, this was really challenging.  Horse riding continues to be lots of fun for Zico. He had to throw a beanbag from his horse into a hoop which he did with ease.
Unfortunately Zico had to miss his little Gymnastics session as Daddy hurt his leg as they were about to leave.

Literacy: This weeks writing was AMAZING! Zico didn't manage to do any writing last Monday (week 6) as we moved house so I said he needed to try two sentences. He wrote "We went to Wellington. It was cool." He also wrote these sentences this week with some amazing pictures. "Pixie is a menace but we love her anyway.""I can see a pipe. It is big.". " I can see a flower and a plant.". " I love Mum and Dad and Mum is my favourite." Zico has done lots of great reading too this week and he is getting faster with his sight words too.

Numeracy: Zico has been using Studyladder to do some addition and we have also been counting up to 20 and back again as well as singing a song about doubles.
